Born in Soberton, the 5 child/ 3 son of John and Mary Twynam.
1891 census the family was living at East Hoe, in Jan 1901 he joined the Merchant Navy and was undergoing training to be an officer at HMS Worcester - the Thames Nautical Training Centre - on the 1901 census. In 1911 he was at home with his parents at Soberton House, although his occupation is listed as Merchant Service.
Died serving as a Lieutenant with Royal Naval Reserve aboard submarine HMS E36 which was in collision with HMS E43 in the North Sea.
Commemorated at Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Southsea Common
