Born in 1854 in Tipperary, Ireland to Hugh and Marion Baker of Lismacue, Tipperary, Ireland
She married John Tywnam in Bansha, Tipperary Ireland 25th September 1878
She first appears in England on the 1881 census with her husband and two daughters (both born in Soberton) living at East Hoe. John is a farmer of 500 acres, employing 11 men and 3 boys. the household also includes a nurse, cook, and housemaid. They stilled lived there in 1891, but by this time they had 7 children, employing a governess, nurse, cook, and a housemaid. By this time John is listed as living "on own means". By 1901 they were living at Manor Farm, Soberton, "living on own means". Elizabeth, William, Charles, and Godfrey are all living at home; William is working as a Banker's Clerk. The household employs one servant. By 1911 they lived at Soberton House with two children Elizabeth and Hugh still living at home, and one domestic servant.
Four out of her five sons died in WWI, and are commemorated on the Soberton war memorial, and on a plaque inside the church.
