Born in Droxford as the second child of seven to Thomas Walter and Eliza Holmes.
She was baptised at St Peter's, Soberton 15th January 1871, and 5 months later appears on the census record with the family in Droxford.
By 1881 the family lived at the "White Lion Inn" where her father was the Inn Keeper, where they also appear in 1891.
12th April 1892 she married Henry Walter Silvester under license at St Clements Danes, Middlesex, where she is listed as living at "Thanet Place" - It seems that she must have moved up to London sometime in that year.
The 1901 census lists her and Henry living on Hoe Farm, Bishop's Waltham with 4 children
By 1911 the census lists them at Peak Farm, East Meon. They have been married 18 years and have 7 children. Henry is working as a farmer, with his eldest daughter (Daisy) doing Dairy work, and eldest son (George) also working on the farm.
