Youngest son of John and Mary Twynam, twin of Godfrey Twynam;
Living with the family in East Hoe in 1891, then in 1901 the family lived in the Manor House near St Peters Church, Soberton.
Attended Cranleigh School 1905-1908 with Godfrey;
At the out-break of WWI he joined the Middlesex Regiment and then the Machine Gun Corps.: he was the only one of the 5 sons to survive the war.
He left England for India in 1920 as an Engineer student and worked on the Railways in India. He married Marjorie Norman Hall in Bombay 16th September 1922, and they later returned to Soberton where they bought up their children.
